Keeping Britain glowing with the next generation of installers

Continuing its support for the next generation of heating and plumbing installers, Glow-worm recently delivered a face-to-face business awareness session to apprentices at the Hybrid Training Centre in Aintree, Liverpool.

Extending beyond product, the session included practical support and advice on marketing their business plus top tips on how to successfully build their brand to attract and win new customers. The interactive session also covered the importance of mental health and wellbeing, equipping installers with the knowledge and information they need to use in their own businesses.

Steve Cipriano, Commercial Director for UK & Ireland at Glow-worm comments: “Starting out in the industry can be really daunting, especially when it comes to getting your business up and running. Product knowledge is always incredibly valuable as it gives installers the confidence to recommend products and services to their customers, but it’s also important to invest in marketing your business to attract customers in the first place.

“The interactive session was aimed specifically at supporting apprentices with valuable business and personal support. From looking after your business, to looking after yourself, the session offered some practical support which we hope those who attended will be able to use throughout their careers.”

Danny Taton, a heating engineer from Kingsway Gas, added: “First-hand manufacturer support is incredibly important to our apprentices and helps ensure that they have the very latest product and industry knowledge when they enter the industry.

“The on-site session delivered by Glow-worm went beyond product and touched on wider business support, which included the all-important topic of mental health. With 50%* of those in the plumbing and heating industry reporting mental health problems in the last year due to work related issued, support in this area is invaluable.”

Glow-worm recently also elevated its online training offer with the introduction of the Glow-worm Academy, a new online portal allowing installers to follow a tailored learning journey to develop their technical skills with Glow-worm heating systems.

This blended learning approach means installers can complete their theory modules in the comfort of their own home and attend practical courses in one of the Glow-worm Centres of Excellence, cutting down on the time they need to spend off the tools.
