MCS approval of the Clearly Heat Pumps range

, 01.04.2010

Glow-worm are pleased to announce that the Clearly Heat Pumps range have been granted product accreditation under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). The approval was awarded by the BRE in January 2010 and follows BRE inspection visits to our laboratory and production facilities.

What is The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent scheme that certifies microgeneration products and installers in accordance with consistent standards. It is designed to evaluate microgeneration products and installers against robust criteria providing greater protection for consumers.

The MCS is the only certification scheme to cover all microgeneration products and services, and has support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, industry and non-governmental groups as a prime method for making a substantial contribution to cutting the UK's dependency on fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions. For more information see http://www.microgenerationcertification.org/

What it means for Glow-worm customers

If you are a specifier or installer grants for the installation of heat microgeneration technologies are available for public sector buildings (including schools, hospitals, housing associations and local authorities) or for buildings belonging to charitable bodies. Up to 50% of the installation costs will be met by the grant, up to a ceiling of £200,000. For further details please visit http://www.lowcarbonbuildingsphase2.org.uk/ Again, MCS accredited installers must be used for the installation of MCS accredited products.

If you are a homeowner and would like grant funding for a private domestic installation of an air to water heat pump, you must use products that have been accredited to meet the MCS requirements and have it installed by an MCS accredited installer. This means that when installing a Glow-worm Clearly Heat Pump, you can apply for a grant of £900 towards the cost of this environmentally friendly product. To apply for a grant see http://www.lowcarbonbuildings.org.uk/
